NCBA Bank, in partnership with Strathmore University Business School [SBS], has successfully graduated 18 entrepreneurs from the second cohort of the NCBA-SBS Enterprise Development Programme. This 16-week initiative spans various economic sectors, equipping SMEs with essential skills and tools to capture business opportunities, drive innovation, and maximize their potential. The program also promotes the development of socially responsible and viable businesses, contributing to the growth of successful entrepreneurship in the region.
Tirus Mwithiga, NCBA Group Director of Retail Banking, emphasized the bank’s commitment to empowering SMEs, stating, “The transformative impact of this tailored support on our graduates inspires NCBA to continue fostering entrepreneurial success, in line with our role as a trusted financial partner.”
Additionally, NCBA sponsors the 3rd Annual Family Business Day at Strathmore Business School. This event gathers alumni, family business founders and successors, industry experts, and scholars to share best practices, network, and gain practical skills.
Dr. Caesar Mwangi, Executive Dean at SBS, highlighted the positive outcomes of the collaboration between NCBA and SBS in delivering the Enterprise Development Programme [EDP] and the Owner Manager Programme [OMP]. He noted, “This partnership not only provides education but also extends to events like the 3rd Annual Family Business Day, helping businesses to flourish.”
NCBA aims to enroll at least 25 SMEs in the third cohort of the NCBA-SBS Enterprise Development Programme, starting on May 21, 2024. Eligibility criteria include being an NCBA customer with an operational business account for at least 6 months, having a business that has been active for 2-3 years with more than three employees, and achieving an annual turnover of KES 3 million or more.
In addition to the program, NCBA and SBS collaborate on various capacity-building initiatives through the Strathmore Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Centre. These include international business trips, networking forums, business training boot camps, conferences, and trade expos, all aimed at fostering the growth of SMEs and MSMEs.
