African Media Summit, Youth, Tech & Innovation Take Center Stage

The AllAfrica Media Leaders’ Summit, themed “Re-engineering African Media in Times of Critical Transformation,” is set for May 8-10 in Nairobi, Kenya. Organized by AllAfrica Global Media, this event will gather over 300 media professionals to explore technological adaptation and tackle industry challenges. Highlights include the signing of an AI charter to combat disinformation and advocating for journalists’ safety.

Key participants include Dr. Akinwumi Adesina of the African Development Bank and leaders from various sectors. The summit kicks off with a youth-focused debate at the University of Nairobi, discussing the role of young people in media. The event also features an awards ceremony to honor distinguished media figures.

Innovations in AI and virtual reality will be spotlighted, alongside the Newsroom Innovation Youth Challenge, which encourages young participants to devise engaging media solutions. The challenge winners will present their projects at the summit.

Co-chaired by influential figures such as Nduka Obaigbena and Dr. Vera Songwe, the summit aims to foster impactful media advancements and engage Africa’s youth in shaping the future of media on the continent.
