Meta and This Is Digital officially launched the AI Academy Kenya on 11th September, a training programme aimed at students, developers, startups and small business owners. With the launch event already behind us, the most useful information now is what comes next. That means the actual AI Academy Kenya deadlines still open for anyone who wants to take part in the programme. Two separate tracks make up the academy, each with its own application window and its own set of dates worth writing down.
What the AI Academy Kenya Deadlines Actually Are
The AI Pitchathon track, one half of the AI Academy Kenya deadlines calendar, invites Kenyan startups and developers building with Meta’s AI tools to pitch live in Nairobi for equity-free funding. Applications close on 30th September. The pitch event itself happens on 15th October, and a top team earns a trip to Meta’s AI Summit in Istanbul. The AI Masterclass track runs separately, an eight-week course covering AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, research skills and everyday productivity tools. Its application deadline falls on 31st October, with the actual coursework beginning shortly after on 3rd November.
Who is Actually Running the Programme
This Is Digital, the organisation running the training alongside Meta, is a young outfit, founded in September 2025 on International AI Appreciation Day. In roughly a year, it says it has trained more than 800 AI Champions across ten or more countries, a fast pace of growth for a young training organisation. Landing a Meta partnership this early, one large enough to carry its own AI Academy Kenya deadlines calendar, reflects how quickly demand for practical AI training has grown across the continent. That momentum gives the programme a solid foundation as its first eight-week course prepares to get underway.
Meta’s Mercy Ndegwa framed the effort around local builders solving local problems, which is a reasonable goal for a market still short on hands-on AI training options. Students, developers and small business owners should apply here. They should check the AI Academy Kenya deadlines before either window closes. Both applications are open now through the official event page, with clear dates attached to each track. Missing either deadline simply means waiting for whatever comes after this first cohort finishes its run.
