CMC Networks Partners with aconnic to Expand NaaS and NFV Reach in Africa and Middle East

CMC Networks has partnered with aconnic, a leading German network solution firm formerly part of UET United Electronic Technology AG and albis-elcon. This collaboration aims to introduce network function virtualization [NFV] to service providers in Africa and the Middle East. Implementing aconnic’s uSphir OS & NFV platform into CMC Networks’ CMC Fusion™ Network as a Service [NaaS] offering, this initiative seeks to expedite service provision in these regions.

The uSphir OS & NFV platform, uniquely crafted for disaggregated networks, blends hardware, software, and applications from diverse vendors, ensuring robust carrier-grade network performance. This integration with CMC Fusion™ NaaS facilitates automated service delivery, significantly hastening new service rollouts at scale in Africa and the Middle East.

Werner Neubauer, CEO of aconnic, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the innovation and flexibility NFV brings to service deployment. He noted that CMC Networks’ customers would gain from the open uSphir ecosystem’s versatility, selecting any virtual network function [VNF] and hardware platform. Neubauer also highlighted Africa’s strategic importance for aconnic’s expansion and looked forward to increased engagement in this rapidly growing region.

The uSphir OS & NFV platform is notable for enabling open network disaggregation, transforming any whitebox into a comprehensive universal Customer Premises Equipment [uCPE]. This solution offers the benefits of open-source software, augmented with necessary features like security, performance, management, and orchestration, crucial for service providers. CMC Fusion™ will integrate this platform with various other network services, including cloud, security, and software-defined wide-area networking [SD-WAN], to deliver swift, scalable, and on-demand connectivity.

Marisa Trisolino, CEO of CMC Networks, highlighted the company’s 30-year legacy of addressing local challenges with world-class solutions across six continents. She emphasized the partnership’s role in enhancing service delivery efficiency and value for customers. Trisolino underscored the criticality of rapid, flexible, and on-demand service in modern service provider operations, aligning with CMC’s vision for innovation in connectivity services in Africa and the Middle East.
