Most device manufacturers tend to focus heavily on hardware specifications when launching new devices, notably the recent launch of OPPO Reno12 in Kenya where it was drilled to showcase the strength of its display. However, users often find the operating system [OS] just as important, if not more so, for their day-to-day interactions. Recently, OPPO released an update for ColorOS 14, which brought several enhancements to their devices. We received it on our old Reno10.
ColorOS 14 continues to maintain its minimalist design, which users have come to appreciate. Our experience with this update on the Reno10, as well as the newly launched Reno12 delivered to us, has been positive, with the OS offering extensive customization options and, most importantly, stability. The update has delivered a smooth and feature-rich experience that enhances daily use.
The latest update continues to emphasize OPPO’s commitment to improving photography features. Users can now sort and arrange photos, rename albums, and change album covers to match their preferences. Additionally, the update includes the ability to speed up videos without altering the audio pitch and to create photo albums directly from the homepage. OPPO has also made it easier to migrate sticker data across devices using Clone Phone.

Market Differentiation
These updates represent a significant step for OPPO in 2024, as the company seeks to differentiate its devices from standard Android offerings. By integrating unique features and optimizing the user experience, OPPO is creating a more personalized and engaging mobile experience.
With the integration of AI into Android by Google, OPPO is leveraging this technology to further enhance user interactions. After spending a week with the Reno12, we’ve already noticed improvements in tasks like photo editing, transcribing, and summarizing long team meetings, showcasing how OPPO is advancing AI capabilities on its devices.
