The first phase of OADC Texaf Digital data center – Kinshasa, a collaboration between Open Access Data Centres [OADC] and TEXAF, is now operational. This facility is the first of its kind in the Democratic Republic of the Congo [DRC]. It offers a robust digital ecosystem that supports Internet Exchanges, cloud providers, carriers, and ISPs, for business and residential customers.
This 2MW-capable, Tier-III certified data center is the DRC’s first carrier-neutral and open-access facility. It expects to be ISO27001 certified by Q3 2024. Key players in the telecom and internet sectors have already set up operations within the center.
The data center offers tailored colocation services, reliable connectivity, and sustainable power sourced from hydroelectric generation. This facility will accelerate digitalization across the DRC, providing clients with secure, flexible, and cost-effective solutions.
Kinshasa, a City of Over 16 Million People
Located in Kinshasa, this facility is the first of its kind in DRC, offering a robust digital ecosystem that supports Internet Exchanges, cloud providers, carriers, and ISPs, for business and residential customers.
Within TEXAF’s SILIKIN VILLAGE digital hub, the data center spans 1,500 square meters and can accommodate over 550 racks. It offers colocation, interconnect, and peering services that are essential for enterprise clients, cloud providers, and content distribution networks. This will help to boost efficiency and digital initiatives in DRC.
The infrastructure ideally suits large international content and cloud companies seeking investment opportunities in the DRC.
