Epson’s New OCXO, Smaller, Smarter, More Efficient

Epson has announced the launch of the OG7050CAN. This next-generation oven-controlled crystal oscillator – OCXO meets the escalating power efficiency requirements of data-driven industries. The innovation supports the evolving demands of data centers, base stations, and other communication infrastructures. Especially where stability and precision are critical.

The OG7050CAN sets a new standard in power and space efficiency. Boasting a design that is 85% smaller by volume and consumes 56% less power than previous Epson models. This OCXO measures a compact 7.0 × 5.0 mm × 3.3 mm and offers a stable and reliable frequency source in the smallest footprint. This makes it ideal for modern communication systems.

In response, Epson developed the OG7050CAN with a focus on sustainability and advanced functionality. Utilizing a miniaturized SC-cut crystal unit and a low-power oven structure. The OCXO stabilizes frequency faster, ensuring high-performance operation with reduced energy consumption and operating costs.

Epson’s OG7050CAN will be available for sampling in April 2025 and will debut at the International Timing and Sync Forum [ITSF 2024] in Spain from November 4-7, where Epson will participate as a gold sponsor.
