Going Beyond Hype, Real World AI Solutions for Business

SAS, renowned for its expertise in data and AI solutions, has introduced a strategy to empower organizations in addressing business challenges effectively. By launching industry-specific, lightweight AI models available for individual licenses, SAS enables organizations to implement AI solutions swiftly, enhancing operational efficiency.

The company leverages decades of experience to provide scalable and reliable AI models to prominent sectors including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and government institutions.

Chandana Gopal, Research Director at Future of Intelligence, IDC, emphasized that SAS is diversifying its offerings to adapt to broader customer needs and to increase its market presence through innovative products. These products are based on SAS’s core competencies, intellectual property, and extensive experience in solving industry-specific challenges.

Unlike the common focus on large language models for AI, SAS is enhancing its portfolio with deterministic AI models proven in real-world applications. These models address diverse needs such as fraud detection, supply chain optimization, and healthcare payment integrity.

Facing a competitive market and AI skill shortages, organizations are increasingly seeking agile AI solutions that can be rapidly deployed to enhance business performance.

In May 2023, SAS announced a commitment of $1 billion to develop AI-powered solutions tailored to sectors like banking and healthcare. This investment underscores SAS’s focus on delivering comprehensive, industry-specific solutions.

Udo Sglavo, Vice President for AI and Analytics at SAS, stated that these models complement existing SAS solutions and are designed to meet diverse business needs, fostering innovation across various sectors.

Furthermore, SAS is making AI more accessible by offering ready-to-use AI models, starting with an AI assistant for optimizing warehouse operations. These models are designed to assist even non-technical users, simplifying complex processes and enhancing decision-making speed. The first batch of SAS Models is set to be released later this year.
