Google Unlocks AI Pro for African College Students

Google today announced a major initiative to support higher education across Africa. They are offering a premium AI subscription, Google AI Pro, free for 12 months to eligible university students aged 18+ in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Powered by Google’s most capable model, Gemini 2.5 Pro. The offer aims to build AI literacy and give students hands-on access to advanced tools for learning, research, and creative work skills increasingly essential in today’s workforce.

Eligibility & how to sign up
  • Available to university students [18+] enrolled in eligible higher-education institutions in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

  • A payment method may be added/confirmed during setup, but no charges apply for the free period.
