Google today announced the 15 startups selected for the ninth cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa, a three-month program supporting high-potential African startups leveraging artificial intelligence [AI] to tackle pressing local and global challenges.
Chosen from nearly 1,500 applicants across the continent, the selected startups come from Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa. They are building AI-driven solutions across key sectors such as fintech, agritech, healthtech, logistics, and professional services.
“African startups are at the forefront of solving the continent’s most critical challenges, and their work with AI is truly transformative,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem, Africa at Google. “This program reflects our belief that AI should be shaped by those who understand the context deeply. We’re proud to support these founders in building for impact and advancing an inclusive AI ecosystem.”
From June 23 to August 22, 2025, the cohort will participate in a hybrid accelerator experience. Each startup will receive:
- Dedicated mentorship from Google engineers and AI experts.
- Up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits.
- Support in AI implementation, product development, and business growth.
- Access to a global network of investors and partners.
Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa has supported 153 startups from 17 countries, collectively raising over $300 million in funding and creating more than 3,500 jobs. Google has contributed $5 million in equity-free funding and product support to fuel their growth.
