Huawei Cloud has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating Kenya’s digital transformation. This was during the Huawei Cloud TechWave Kenya Day in Nairobi. Held under the theme “Innovate Now, Ignite the Future.” The event brought together more than 120 senior leaders and decision-makers from government, finance, media, e-commerce, and the wider ICT ecosystem.
As the global shift toward digitalization accelerates over 170 countries have launched national digital strategies and more than 60 governments have adopted AI policies. Huawei Cloud is drawing on its global expertise to provide practical solutions tailored for Kenya.
Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Kenya, opened the event by emphasizing the importance of bold technological investment. The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now.
Huawei Cloud outlined its strategic transition from cloud-native to AI-native architecture. They have embedded AI at every level of the cloud to support enterprises adopting “Cloud for AI” and “AI for Cloud” models.
Throughout the day, keynote sessions and live demonstrations showcased Huawei Cloud’s latest innovations:
- Big Data & AI Applications. Timothy Oriedo, CEO of Predictive Analytics Lab, shared Kenyan case studies from fintech, agriculture, and logistics. He illustrated how businesses can convert data into actionable insights.
- CodeArts DevOps Platform. Rex Xiao, Vice President of Huawei Cloud’s PaaS Product Department, introduced CodeArts. Its an integrated suite of 28 tools that streamlines development, improves efficiency, enhances security, and boosts productivity.
- DevSecOps Practices. Ishaq Kassam, Chief Commercial Officer of FinSense Africa, emphasized the importance of agility. In addition to security by design, and one-click deployment in building successful digital-first strategies.
- Global Success Stories. Anthony Miano, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, highlighted how a Philippine internet company achieved a tenfold increase in R&D efficiency with CodeArts.
- Data Modernization. David Sanchez Plaza, Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics, introduced Lakehouse architecture, combining data lakes and warehouses for real-time analytics and enterprise-grade AI.
- Live Demo. Kevin Kipruto, Senior Solution Architect, showcased a web-based e-commerce app using Huawei Cloud’s platform to accelerate delivery while ensuring performance and security.
