Google’s Hustle Academy Powers Up SMEs with AI

Google has opened applications for the 2024 Hustle Academy, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises [SMEs] in Sub-Saharan Africa. This program, crucial for the growth of Africa’s economic backbone, SMBs, integrates a new AI training this year to enhance business operations and decision-making.

Despite being vital to the economy, many SMBs struggle with funding and skill development. The International Finance Corporation highlights that 40% of formal SMBs in developing regions face a $5.2 trillion annual funding shortfall.

Since its 2022 launch, the Hustle Academy has educated over 10,000 businesses, improving their ability to secure funding and generate jobs. Kristy Grant, the Head of B2B Marketing for SSA, notes that the addition of AI training will help SMBs innovate and grow economically by making smarter decisions and optimizing marketing strategies.

The program offers AI-focused modules like “Boost Your Productivity with AI” and “Marketing Strategy and AI.” Businesses from Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa can apply, with the program running until year’s end. For more details or to apply, visit Google’s Hustle Academy website.
