ILRI
Key Benefits for Farmers
  • Real-Time Data Access: Instantly capture and retrieve health, breeding, and productivity records.
  • Historical Data at Your Fingertips: Farmers can now access past records, improving decision-making.
  • User-Friendly Design: Available on Android smartphones with plans for local language translations.
  • Cost Efficiency: Reduces reliance on field agents by enabling farmers to record their own data.
Bridging Gaps with Technology

In regions like Kenya, with over 34.5 million smartphone users, this app represents a leap forward in accessible agricultural innovation. Farmers gain tools to optimize herd management, increase yields, and enhance livelihoods.

Collaborations and Future Plans

Built in partnership with Hyderabad-based Unmiti, the app’s six modules capture data on milk yield, herd health, breeding, and more. Initial rollouts in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Nepal demonstrate its potential to revolutionize dairy farming.

While initially tested by data collectors, plans are underway to roll it out directly to farmers. As usage grows, ILRI and CTLGH aim to enhance accessibility and reduce data collection costs, ensuring long-term benefits for smallholder farmers.

This app emphasizes ILRI and CTLGH’s commitment to empowering farmers through innovation, fostering sustainable practices, and driving a global transformation in livestock management.
