IPCS Named Vertiv’s Distribution Partner in Malawi

Vertiv has appointed International Power Control Systems [IPCS] as a distribution partner in Malawi. They have strengthened access to critical digital infrastructure solutions in the country. The partnership leverages IPCS’s established experience in power control and alternative energy to meet the region’s growing technology needs.

Under the agreement, IPCS will distribute Vertiv’s range of solutions, including single-phase and three-phase AC power systems, surge protection, integrated racks and cabinets, and IT infrastructure management tools. These solutions are designed to support the increasing demand for compute and AI infrastructure across Malawi.

“This partnership broadens the options available to organisations in Malawi seeking reliable and scalable infrastructure,” said Rumbidzai Bere, Business Development and Marketing Director at IPCS.

“By combining IPCS’s local expertise with solutions such as lithium-ion compatible UPS systems and advanced IT infrastructure. We aim to help businesses enhance efficiency and resilience.”

“Working with IPCS allows us to deliver infrastructure solutions more effectively in Malawi. It reflects a shared commitment to supporting the country’s power, data centre, and alternative energy sectors. This helps organisations prepare for the next phase of digital growth.” Added Gary Chomse, Vertiv’s Regional Director for Central and Southern Africa

This collaboration aligns with Malawi’s National Compact for Energy. It targets 70% electricity access by 2030, alongside broader electrification and renewable energy initiatives.

“As digital transformation accelerates and energy access expands, we see strong growth potential in the IT and power sectors.” Bere said. “With 80% of Malawi’s population under 35, increasing IT skills, the adoption of AI, and advancements in cybersecurity will further drive the need for sophisticated data centre solutions.”

IPCS, founded in 1998, is a wholly Malawian-owned company that supplies, installs, and maintains critical power systems, including UPS, data centre infrastructure, voltage regulation, surge protection, and renewable energy solutions.
