Sophos, a leading provider of advanced security solutions, has appointed Joe Levy as its new CEO, effective since February 15. Levy, with nearly 30 years of experience in cybersecurity, has elevated Sophos to a global powerhouse, expanding its offerings to include an incident response team and managed detection and response service protecting over 21,000 organizations.
He founded SophosAI and Sophos X-Ops, which combines over 500 cybersecurity experts to enhance threat intelligence across Sophos’ solutions. Levy’s extensive background with managed security providers, starting from the mid-1990s, positions him well to lead Sophos’ growth, particularly in the mid market sector.
Levy aims to broaden Sophos’ reach in the midmarket, serving nearly 600,000 customers and generating over $1.2 billion annually. Sophos specializes in defending these crucial, yet vulnerable, organizations against various cyber threats, as detailed in their Active Adversary and 2024 Threat Reports. Levy emphasized the significant economic risks when these midmarket entities face cyberattacks, impacting global supply chains and the broader economy.
To support this mission, Levy appointed Jim Dildine as CFO, leveraging his vast experience from roles at Imperva and Symantec. Dildine’s appointment is part of a broader strategy to drive Sophos’ growth and support its global partners.
Chip Virnig, a partner at Thoma Bravo and Sophos board member, expressed confidence in Levy and Dildine, citing their proven track record and leadership skills as vital for Sophos’ future success.
