Agribusiness firm Kakuzi has launched a digital literacy program for schools in Murang’a County, to equip primary school students with essential digital skills. This initiative aims to provide students with the tools needed to compete nationally and globally.
Kakuzi donated 18 computers and 3 printers to three rural public primary schools: Kinyangi, Kitito, and Kakuzi Primary. Each school received six computers and a printer, addressing their challenges in accessing digital information and streamlining administrative tasks.
Madam Immaculate Keige, Headteacher at Kitito Primary, emphasized the importance of digital literacy in schools. Noting that the lack of computer systems had previously hindered their operations, even causing exam delays.
The donation was celebrated in a ceremony with Kakuzi management, local community leaders, and education representatives. Chris Flowers, Kakuzi PLC Managing Director, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting education and empowering local communities. He highlighted that early exposure to digital skills can open up global opportunities for students.
Earlier in the year, Kakuzi also renovated the schools as part of their efforts to improve the educational environment and align with Sustainable Development Goal 4, focusing on quality education.
