LG 2023 OLED Evo series TVs have been certified as environment friendly. It has received certifications for Reducing CO21 and Measured CO22. This points to LG’s ongoing environmental, Social and Governance [ESG] efforts for plastic waste reduction.
Carbon Trust, a global climate consultancy created to accelerate the move to a ‘Net Zero’ future. The Société Générale de Surveillance SA [SGS], the leading global testing organization dedicated to certifying environmentally sustainable products. Both, issued the certification for the third consecutive year. Both institutions inspected every stage of the LG 2023 OLED Evo series, from production and delivery to disposal.
LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company’s Product Development Division lead Baik Sun-pil noted that the product boasts lighter weight, and stronger durability, applying composite Fibre material and metal.LG’s OLED Evo series uses 40% less plastic than LCD TVs of the same size, reducing plastic consumption by 20,000 tons this year. Thanks to composite fiber material, some OLED Evo models are 20% lighter than LCD TVs, lowering CO2 emissions during transport.
The 2023 LG OLED Evo, QNED, and NanoCell TVs also feature back covers made from over 30% recycled plastic, enabling LG to recycle 3,200 tons of plastic annually from TVs alone.
“We focus on reducing plastic use while providing immersive viewing experiences and minimizing environmental impact throughout production. We are committed to expanding ESG initiatives and responsible practices,” said Baik Sun-pil.
