NCBA Plants 10,000 Trees for a Sustainable Future

NCBA Bank has announced its collaboration with Baboon Project Kenya for a tree planting initiative across Nakuru County, aiming to plant 10,000 tree seedlings in support of environmental sustainability. This partnership, announced in alignment with the theme of World Environment Day, seeks to combat climate change, enhance biodiversity, and restore natural landscapes in Kenya.

The Baboon Project Kenya, established in 2021 in collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service, focuses on increasing tree coverage and raising environmental awareness through its Green School Program. This initiative specifically targets schools and surrounding communities, promoting active participation in environmental conservation.

NCBA Group MD John Gachora and his son Aiden plant a tree at Kimathi Primary School, Nakuru, for World Environment Day.

The campaign is part of NCBA’s broader “Change The Story” platform, which includes commitments to plant 10 million trees by 2030 and foster a culture of conservation. During the event, NCBA’s Group Managing Director, Mr. John Gachora, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in sustainability efforts, noting their role in nurturing the future of environmental stewardship. Additional partners in this initiative include the Kenya Forest Service, Ushiriki Wema Foundation, WWF Kenya, Boreka Group, and Ahadi Kenya.

In a related effort to support community development, Mr. Gachora also pledged Ksh. 500,000 for the renovation of educational facilities, enhancing the learning environment in line with the sustainability goals. This integrated approach underscores NCBA’s commitment to both environmental and community welfare.
