NTT DATA Targets 1,000+ Africa Starlink Deployments

NTT DATA is speeding up the rollout of Starlink-powered connectivity services in Kenya and other African markets. This follows a reseller agreement signed earlier this year. The company says it has completed close to 100 installations in Kenya. It aims to exceed 1,000 deployments across Africa within the next six months.

The services target organisations that need stable and resilient internet, including banks, retailers, logistics firms, farms, mining operations and emergency services. Kenya has emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets for NTT DATA’s satellite connectivity, with more sites already live and additional rollouts underway in other authorised countries.

Businesses Seek Reliable Alternatives to Fibre

The expansion comes as many businesses across Africa face frequent fibre cuts, power outages and weak last-mile networks. These challenges often disrupt operations, especially in remote or underserved areas. Under the reseller model, NTT DATA provides Starlink equipment, installation and ongoing support in markets where the satellite service is licensed and where NTT DATA has a local presence.

“Connectivity is now critical to business operations, and downtime is costly.” Said Ndung’u Njoroge, General Manager for Digital Network Services at NTT DATA East Africa. He said satellite connectivity gives organisations another option to improve network reliability, particularly where traditional infrastructure is unreliable or unavailable.

One factor supporting faster deployment in Kenya has been local availability of Starlink hardware. According to NTT DATA, this has reduced delivery times and enabled some clients to go live within a few days. This is important for sectors that depend on constant connectivity.

Flexible Service Models for Enterprises

The company offers several service plans with monthly data allowances ranging from 1TB to 6TB. Clients can buy equipment outright, use a lease-to-own option or subscribe to bundled packages that include hardware and services. Support and hardware replacement are handled locally.

NTT DATA says it integrates satellite links into existing fibre or wireless networks, allowing businesses to manage a single, unified connection rather than multiple service providers. This setup is used both for backup connectivity and for sites with no reliable internet access.

Demand for satellite-based connectivity has increased following recent undersea cable outages, power challenges and the growth of cloud-based services across the region. NTT DATA says it is positioning satellite connectivity as part of a broader approach to business continuity and digital operations.

As organisations expand into new locations and rely more on real-time digital services, stable internet access is becoming a key requirement. NTT DATA says its focus is on helping businesses remain connected and operational in an increasingly unpredictable network environment.
