Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Upper Hill, in collaboration with Humming Bird Transport [HBT], is enhancing its sustainability focus by introducing 12 electric vehicles to its fleet. This initiative, aligning with World Environment Day, aims to diminish carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly operations in the hospitality industry. A dedicated electric vehicle charging station has been established on the hotel premises, set to be accessible to guests later in the year.
Regarding the collaboration, Russell Storey, General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Upper Hill, expressed his enthusiasm for partnering with Humming Bird Transport to promote sustainable mobility in the hospitality industry.
“This partnership marks a defining moment for us. By introducing electric vehicles, we are not only reducing carbon emissions but also reshaping the hospitality industry’s environmental impact. Our goal is to redefine the tourism experience and showcase Kenya’s leadership in green transport across Africa,” Storey stated.
Humming Bird Transport, known for its commitment to green mobility, supports the transition towards sustainable transportation in the hospitality sector across sub-Saharan Africa. This partnership is a part of the hotel’s broader Responsible Business initiative, which includes sustainability efforts like using LED lighting, sensor taps, solar heating, water recycling, and tree planting.
