Safaricom through its youth platform Safaricom Hook, has launched a series of upskilling bootcamps dubbed ‘Safaricom Hook Circle.’ It is aimed at empowering Kenya’s youth in three key areas: technology, career development, and culture.
The first bootcamp, hosted at Chuka University in Tharaka Nithi County. Drew over 4,000 participants from the university and surrounding areas. Attendees took part in expert-led masterclasses, gaining valuable insights into financial literacy, tech skills, career readiness, and cultural expression.

Connecting Youth to Opportunities
“Safaricom Hook Circle aims to connect youth all over Kenya to opportunities that will propel them to succeed in their area of interest. In Collaboration with our partners. We will provide youth in Kenya with the opportunity to learn relevant topics in financial literacy, tech-forward upskilling, career readiness and culture as a form of expression and income.” Said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.
The bootcamp’s Culture Hook featured masterclasses from partners such as Elevate, Baze Radio, Boomplay, and Artfit. Offering guidance on how to break into the arts, music, and fashion industries. The Technology Hook focused on equipping participants with future-ready tech skills, led by Power Learn Project, Avunja Mobile, and Transsion. The Career Hook aimed to prepare youth for the job market. It will achieve this through sessions from Brighter Monday, Wowzi, Trace Academia, ABSA, and Twiva.
Mental Health & Financial Literacy
In addition to career and tech training, the bootcamp also addressed mental health and financial literacy, with Chiromo Hospital and Absa’s Ready to Work Program providing vital resources.
Throughout the Safaricom Hook Circle series, an estimated 600 youth will receive tech scholarships from Power Learn Project, while 4,000 will undergo career training, including 15 internship opportunities and 60 CV upgrades from Brighter Monday. Transsion will offer device financing for Tecno, Infinix, and Itel smartphones, while Twiva will provide over 3,000 influencer sales jobs.
Safaricom Hook Circle bootcamps will continue across the country, providing Kenyan youth with mentorship and training in tech careers, fashion, music, and more.
