Samsung Electronics introduced the latest additions to its Galaxy foldable series: the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5. The launch event took place at Shamba Café in Nairobi and was attended by tech enthusiasts from East Africa. Alongside these exciting devices, Samsung also announced a tree-planting initiative as part of its global environment strategy. They planted around 10,000 trees in the Ngong Hills area using air distribution.

Both the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are designed with durability in mind. They come equipped with features like a shock dispersion layer on the main screen and a redesigned back, ensuring a more solid display. The devices also have IPX8 support, Armor Aluminum frames, and Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®2 on the Flex Window and back cover for enhanced protection, further strengthened by the Flex Hinge with its dual rail structure to diffuse external impacts.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 is a pocket-sized self-expression tool without compromise. Samsung is also taking steps to reduce its environmental impact. The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 feature a wider variety of recycled materials, including pre-consumer recycled glass and aluminum, as well as post-consumer recycled plastics from discarded fishing nets, water barrels, and PET bottles. Even the packaging boxes are made with 100 percent recycled material. Samsung aims to extend the product lifecycle by offering five years of security updates and four generations of OS upgrades for each device.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 will be available for pre-order in select markets from July 26, with general availability starting on August 11. The Galaxy Z Flip5 comes in colors like Mint, Graphite, Cream, and Lavender, along with various accessories. The Galaxy Z Fold5 is available in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream, and offers practical and stylish cases, including a Slim S Pen Case, Clear Gadget Case, Eco-Leather Case, and a Standing Case with Strap. Additionally, Samsung Care+ offers support for accidental screen damage, allowing customers to register within 30 days of purchase and enjoy one free screen repair within a 12-month period.
