Samsung Hospitality TV HBU8000 Gets AirPlay

Samsung’s HBU8000 hospitality TV will be the first to support AirPlay, allowing guests to connect their iPhones and iPads by scanning a QR code. This feature enables guests to watch their favorite shows and movies, listen to personal playlists, view photos, practice presentations, and play games on the TV in their room.

To ensure convenience and security, no personal information is stored or saved, and all data is erased upon guest checkout. Hotel managers can easily update their systems to enable AirPlay, simplifying the integration process.

AirPlay operates mainly within Apple’s ecosystem or on compatible devices. It facilitates the transfer of multimedia content such as video, audio, photos, and apps between systems and devices. Content streams wirelessly from a host device, like an iPad or a Mac, to an HDTV equipped with Apple TV.

Integrating Apple AirPlay is part of Samsung’s strategy to enhance the in-room experience for hotel guests and provide powerful management tools for operators. Samsung’s hospitality TVs also include LYNK Cloud and SmartThings Pro for improved connectivity and seamless management.

For Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, AirPlay allows both iPhone and iPad users to easily share their favorite content on the big screen in their hotel room, making their temporary stay at a hotel feel more like home.

LYNK Cloud offers customizable content, remote device management, and access to OTT entertainment. It includes an e-commerce platform for in-room ordering and interactive services like booking hotel services and ordering room service. Hotel managers can use insights from LYNK Cloud to personalize content and create impactful promotional material.

SmartThings Pro enhances connectivity and security with IoT devices. Hotel IT managers can control Samsung smart devices throughout the hotel using a single dashboard. SmartThings Pro supports multi-unit management and device performance monitoring, with customizable APIs for seamless integration with existing systems.
