Samsung Electronics East Africa has successfully concluded pre-orders for its highly anticipated Galaxy Flip and Fold 5 smartphones. The pre-order campaign exceeded expectations by an impressive 25%, solidifying Samsung’s dominant position in the foldable smartphone market.
The success of the pre-order campaign was due in part to a strategic collaboration with Absa Kenya, a leading financial institution. Through this partnership, Absa Credit Card customers were provided the opportunity to finance their Galaxy devices over flexible timeframes of three, six, nine, or twelve months. Additionally, the option to trade in their existing devices through Badili Africa further contributed to the outstanding success of the pre-order phase.
Charles Kimari, Director of Mobile Experience at Samsung Electronics East Africa, noted that the company has witnessed a shift in consumer preferences, with a higher demand for the Galaxy Flip 5 this year. He attributed this shift to Samsung’s recent initiatives, such as partnering with Badili Africa for trade-in services and collaborating with Absa Kenya to offer device financing options. These initiatives empower customers to easily acquire these cutting-edge devices.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold 5, alongside the Galaxy Watch 6 series and Galaxy Tab S9 series, will soon be available at authorized Samsung dealer stores across the nation.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 represent the fifth generation of Samsung’s innovative foldable devices. They boast refined designs and new form factors, including the innovative Flex Hinge. Alongside these devices, the Galaxy Watch6 series has garnered significant interest for its comprehensive health and wellness features, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 series that offers a unique tablet experience.
Starting from August 25, 2023, customers can purchase the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 at prices beginning at Kshs. 325,000 and Kshs. 193,000 respectively. Those purchasing the Fold 5 will receive a complimentary slim S Pen cover, while Flip 5 customers will enjoy a 30% discount on the Galaxy Watch 6. Both devices also include Samsung Care+, a support service providing accidental screen damage protection.
The Galaxy Tab S9 series, available in three models, offers a distinctive tablet experience with Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, IP68 ratings, and an in-box S Pen. The devices seamlessly integrate with the broader Galaxy ecosystem, facilitating spontaneous productivity.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes in nature-inspired colors such as Mint, Graphite, Cream, and Lavender, accompanied by a range of accessories. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers a selection of sophisticated shades including Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream, along with new accessories such as the Slim S Pen Case.
The Galaxy Watch6 is available in 44mm and 40mm sizes, while the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, featuring the beloved rotating bezel, comes in 43mm and 47mm sizes. The Galaxy Tab S9 series is offered in Beige and Graphite colors, with three size options: 14.6-inch for the Tab S9 Ultra, 12.4-inch for the Tab S9+, and 11-inch for the Tab S9.
