SAS Expands Hosted Managed Services to AWS

SAS recently announced the expansion of its SAS-hosted managed services to Amazon Web Services [AWS] during the SAS INNOVATE event in Las Vegas. This strategic enhancement to the SAS Managed Services portfolio offers customers more deployment and management options for their SAS technology investments. SAS Viya, a key product known for its flexibility across different cloud environments, is now accessible on AWS as part of this hosted service, giving users a broader selection of cloud providers and cutting-edge SAS solutions.

Jay Upchurch, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at SAS, emphasized that SAS Managed Services combine the company’s software, services, support, and expertise to provide customers with an optimal SAS experience. This approach has contributed to significant growth in recent years and aims to offer AWS users comprehensive benefits from SAS solutions in their preferred cloud environments.

SAS Managed Services are designed to maximize system uptime with minimal administrative efforts, allowing customers to focus on innovation by reducing costs, mitigating technical debt, and enhancing speed and security. Steve White, Program Vice President of Channels and Alliances at IDC, noted that SAS’s move to AWS aligns with its strategic goals and meets customers’ needs for flexible data and AI application.

Moreover, SAS is streamlining the transition from SAS 9 to SAS Viya for clients already on AWS or those searching for an appropriate cloud provider, making it simpler to harness the combined capabilities of SAS and AWS for business advancement.

The announcement was part of SAS Innovate, an event focused on data and AI for business leaders and technical professionals.
