Jordan Schleck demonstrated remarkable endurance by securing first place in the men’s elite 120KM LOOP with a time of 4:40:50. This was at the final leg of the 2024 LOOP Safari Gravel Series held at Vipingo Ridge, Kilifi County. Joel Kyaviro and Stanley Ngugi followed in second and third, finishing in 4:57:37 and 5:00:55, respectively.
In the women’s elite category, Aleper Mary made a stunning comeback after placing third in the Hells Gate edition, winning with a time of 6:26:16. Kendra Masige and Monica Jelimo finished second and third at 6:42:00 and 6:46:12, respectively.
The overall series team winners were also awarded, with Black Mamba claiming the grand prize of KES 250,000. Kenyan Riders and Ariyas Solar Vortex took second and third, winning KES 200,000 and KES 150,000, respectively.
“Winning the final leg of the LOOP Safari Gravel Series wasn’t easy, but I was prepared for the challenge. The tough course at Vipingo Ridge pushed me to my limits, but the support from fellow riders and the incredible atmosphere made it all worthwhile.” Reflected Schleck.

The 60KM LOOP saw Rosemary Wairimu triumph in the women’s category with a time of 2:03:47. While Nicholas Barasa won the men’s category at 2:03:49. The 20KM LOOP provided a more relaxed challenge, with Kelvin Kazungu and Kate Crowley winning in their respective categories.
The Vipingo leg also introduced Visa as a new sponsors, Huawei was the prize money sponsor. The organization awarded KES 20,000, KES 15,000, and KES 10,000 to the top three in the 120KM elite races.
LOOP Digital Financial Services CEO Eric Muriuki praised the event. He said the final leg of the LOOP Safari Gravel Series was a true celebration of athleticism and perseverance. “We’ve seen the sport grow, with more participants and higher competition levels. We commit to continue nurturing this sport, and we look forward to next year’s series and new partnerships.”
In alignment with LOOP DFS’s sustainability commitment, participants planted over 200 trees during the event, contributing to environmental conservation efforts.

The LOOP Safari Gravel Series was organized by the AMANI Project as LOOP DFS as the title sponsor. Huawei came onboard as the prize sponsor. It includes three categories: 20KM for amateurs, 60KM for enthusiasts, and 120KM for professionals, attracting both local and international riders. The series began in Tatu City, with subsequent legs in Iten and Hells Gate, Naivasha.
