Sun King East Africa’s Partnerships General Manager, Wambui Muturi, and Diamond Trust Bank Kenya’s Retail Banking Director, George Otiende sign an MoU for a new solar financing product. The partnership will help more customers access clean, affordable energy.

“Access to affordable, reliable energy is not just an environmental issue. It’s an economic and social imperative,” said Murali Natarajan, CEO of DTB Kenya. “This product helps families lower electricity bills while supporting Kenya’s shift to cleaner, more resilient energy sources.”

Kenyan households face two major energy challenges:
  • High costs: Rising electricity prices strain family budgets and drive up the cost of living.
  • Frequent outages: In the year to June 2023, consumers endured nearly 45 unplanned outages, losing over 115 hours of power.

Solar power offers a cost-effective, sustainable, and dependable alternative. It reduces reliance on the grid and shielding households from unpredictable tariffs and blackouts. By lowering the barrier to solar adoption. DTB is enabling Nairobi homeowners to take control of their energy future benefiting both their homes and the planet.
