TikTok Tightens LIVE Guidelines

TikTok LIVE is introducing new Monetization Guidelines and educational initiatives to enhance the quality and authenticity of its live streaming community. These guidelines clarify that certain content, especially if inauthentic or low-quality, will not be eligible for monetization.

TikTok is committed to maintaining the integrity of its community. While most creators adhere to these standards, those who breach them will be informed and could face restrictions on their monetization privileges. The platform’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service continue to define acceptable content across TikTok, including LIVE sessions.

To better support newcomers, TikTok is revising its approach to onboarding new LIVE creators. With stringent live-streaming requirements in place creators must be over 18 and meet additional criteria—newly eligible creators will now gain access to advanced monetization features in stages. This phased approach allows them to learn the rules while building their audience. Supporting this, TikTok is launching a new LIVE Safety Center and updating its in-app LIVE Safety Education Center for policy guidance and educational content.

This initiative extends TikTok’s ongoing investment in LIVE safety and content quality. The platform employs over 40,000 people and uses technology to ensure safety, including specialized teams and detection models for LIVE. TikTok also offers over 10 customizable safety tools for LIVE creators and numerous features that allow viewers to tailor their LIVE content experience.
