Alan Turnley-Jones, CEO of NTT DATA MEA, said the appointment reflects their commitment to growing leadership in high-potential markets across the region.

Manufacturing is a major global industry worth over $16 trillion and contributes around 13% to South Africa’s GDP. Across Africa, it makes up 10% and is expected to grow due to localisation, policy reforms, and digital investment.

Despite its potential, many manufacturers face hurdles like outdated systems, cybersecurity risks, and talent gaps. However, new technologies offer a chance to boost efficiency, improve supply chains, and enable data-driven decisions. Sustainability is also a growing focus, with companies seeking smarter, greener operations.

With Maharaj at the helm, NTT DATA aims to help manufacturers overcome these challenges, speed up digital transformation, and compete globally.
