Kenya’s urban population growth and technology exposure have driven the adoption of laundry appliances, with washing machine sales expected to exceed 500,000 units by the end of 2024, up from 402,000 in 2018, showing a 4.7% annual growth rate.
AI DD-equipped machines, like the LG WashTower, are advancing laundry technology by intelligently detecting fabric weight and texture to adjust laundry settings and protect clothes. The WashTower combines washing and drying in a compact unit, ideal for homes with limited space.
LG’s Managing Director for East Africa, Dongwon Lee, noted the rise in washing machine and dryer sales over the past five years but acknowledged space constraints in modern homes. He introduced the LG WashTower as a space-efficient solution with full-size features and centrally-located controls. The global Washer Dryer Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.2% from 2023 to 2030, with LG leading in washer dryer combos, including front load and all-in-one models.
