Zoho has teamed up with MOMO Pencils, a top eco-friendly stationery maker in Nairobi, for the “Hope for Literacy” initiative in Kenya. This program aims to fight poverty across generations by providing quality education to underserved children. Zoho will collaborate with MOMO Pencils to ensure kids in disadvantaged communities get access to education while promoting environmental sustainability in schools.
Veerakumar Natarajan, Zoho Kenya’s Country Head, expressed Zoho’s commitment to community service, local empowerment, and sustainable development. He highlighted their growth strategy, Transnational Localism, focusing on local community engagement, talent nurturing, and technology empowerment for local businesses. Natarajan looks forward to partnering with MOMO Pencils to create a meaningful impact on society and the environment.
Mahamud Omari, CEO of MOMO Pencils, emphasized the aim of the “Hope for Literacy” program to support the education of one million underprivileged children in Kenya, where poverty hinders access to quality education. Omari welcomes Zoho’s partnership in this mission to transform Kenyan families, schools, and communities.
The collaboration involves hosting 25 students from Creative Minds Primary School in Athi River at Zoho’s Nairobi office, providing insights into STEM career opportunities. Furthermore, Zoho and MOMO Pencils will donate 25,000 wood-free pencils to 10 Kenyan schools and plant 1,000 tree saplings in those schools this year to promote environmental awareness. Zoho will offer life skills mentorship to students during school visits, starting at Creative Minds on February 16, 2024.
