Zoho Credits Fuel Innovation at JKUAT’s Startup Hub

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology [JKUAT] a prominent university in Kenya, has established an environment that nurtures collaboration and innovation, providing a platform for aspiring innovators to thrive. Through its initiative, the university encourages individuals and start ups to showcase their inventive projects on the J-Hub Africa website. Here, a panel of judges rigorously evaluates the potential of these ideas, offering a pathway for promising innovations to blossom.

Once selected, innovators are embraced into a partnership with Zoho, a well-known technology provider of business management solutions. Zoho intervenes to streamline the operational aspects of these startups by offering a comprehensive set of tools to manage various business functions.

This collaboration not only grants innovators access to Zoho’s powerful software portfolio but also awards them with Zoho Wallet Credits worth up to KES 100,000. These credits can be utilized to access any of Zoho’s 55+ cloud products, spanning sales, marketing, HR, accounting, communication, and collaboration, to jumpstart their journey towards operational efficiency.

“Moreover, startups can leverage Zoho One, an integrated suite that provides multiple solutions from a single platform, ensuring smooth integration and data flow”. said Veerakumar Natarajan, Country Head, Zoho Kenya during the sidelines of Zoholics Kenya, the company’s annual user conference held at Hyatt Regency in Nairobi. 

In line with its dedication to fostering technological talent, the company invests time and resources into understanding the specific needs of each project, offering tailored mentorship to developers for a period of three months. This hands-on guidance equips innovators with the necessary skills to effectively utilize Zoho’s solutions and optimize their business operations.

Dr. Lawrence Nderu, Chairman of the Department of Computing at JKUAT, expressed enthusiasm about this transformative partnership with Zoho. He emphasized the significant impact it is poised to have on the innovation landscape, both within and beyond the university campus.

“Integrating practical skill sets with academic curricula enables students to be well-equipped and thrive in an ever-evolving tech industry”, said Nderu.
