Safaricom today unveiled the M-PESA Sokoni Festival. It is a two-month roadshow that will connect customers with discounted products and digital services. At the same time it will showcase more than 150 local and national businesses.
Opening in Mombasa, the travelling marketplace will feature “deals kuruka” on devices, electronics, household goods, fashion, travel and more. Activities planned in each host city include:

- Safire Connect forums – peer discussions on entrepreneurship, personal branding and financial wellness.
- Wezesha Mama workshops – financial and digital-literacy training for women’s groups, with access to seed capital provided by the M-PESA Foundation.
- M-PESA Agent Awards – recognition of high-performing agent stores.
- Grow with Safaricom Business sessions – practical guidance for SMEs on digitisation, market access and brand building.
The coastal leg culminates on Saturday, 7th June 2025, at Mombasa Sports Club Grounds. It will be a full-day festival of shopping and entertainment. All offers will also be available nationally through Masoko.
“Our goal is to create convenient access to quality products and equip entrepreneurs with the tools they need to grow,” said Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Dr Peter Ndegwa. “By bringing marketplaces, training and financing under one roof, we hope to stimulate commerce in every county.”
The M-PESA Sokoni Festival forms part of Safaricom’s year-long 25th-anniversary celebrations and the wider “M-PESA at 18” programme. It highlighs the mobile-money platform’s role in Kenya’s digital and financial ecosystem. Visitors can explore solutions such as Pochi la Biashara, Fuliza ya Biashara, Ziidi MMF, TaaS Till, Taasi Pochi, Safaricom Hook and Safaricom Emerald.
Further dates and locations for the festival will be announced on Safaricom’s official channels.
