Ecobank Group’s 2023 Fintech Challenge Reveals a USD 50,000 Cash Prize

Ecobank Group is inviting African fintech entrepreneurs to apply for the 6th edition of its Ecobank Fintech Challenge. This competition is for innovative and ambitious entrepreneurs in the fintech industry.

If chosen, the entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to partner with Ecobank and expand their innovative solutions across Ecobank’s network of 35 African markets and its international operations in France.

The finalists will also have a chance to join the prestigious Ecobank Fintech Fellowship program. The final event and awards ceremony will take place in late September 2023 and the overall winner will receive a cash prize of USD 50,000 for the second year in a row.

The Ecobank Fintech Fellows who are selected will receive several benefits through their collaboration with Ecobank and its partners. These include an opportunity to integrate their solutions with Ecobank, potentially launching their products within Ecobank’s extensive Pan-African ecosystem.

They may also be chosen as service partners within the bank’s ecosystem. Fellows will have access to Ecobank’s Pan-African Banking Sandbox, where they can test and improve their products for the African market. Additionally, they will have priority access to Ecobank’s venture capital partners for funding opportunities.

Fintechs and developers from all African countries, as well as global fintechs centered on Africa, can now apply for the challenge before 21st July 2023. Interested parties can submit their applications through this official website.

The CEO of Ecobank Group, Jeremy Awori, expressed the positive impact of the Fintech Challenge over the years. He highlighted the successful partnerships between Ecobank and fintechs that have resulted in the launch of innovative products across their markets, contributing to Africa’s digital transformation and financial inclusion.

Tomisin Fashina, an executive at Ecobank Group, stated that the Ecobank Fintech Challenge has become Africa’s leading fintech competition, promoting growth for African fintechs. He emphasized the identification of talents that support Ecobank’s mission of driving prosperity across the continent.

The Ecobank Fintech Challenge was created in collaboration with the international advisory firm Konfidants and receives support from various partners.
