NTT DATA & Fortanix Partner for Quantum Safe Data Security

NTT DATA and Fortanix today announced a global partnership to help enterprises protect sensitive data across AI, cloud and hybrid environments. In addition to prepare for post-quantum cryptography.

Under the agreement, NTT DATA will introduce a new Cryptography-as-a-Service offering within its data security portfolio. The service combines Fortanix’s Data Security Manager platform with NTT DATA’s cybersecurity services, global delivery model and experience with evolving data-protection standards.

The joint solution is designed to deliver “crypto-agility” the ability to quickly find and replace vulnerable encryption with quantum-safe alternatives while providing centralized visibility and policy control for audits, compliance and regulatory reporting. Fortanix’s platform, built on Confidential Computing, encrypts and isolates data at rest, in transit and in use.

NTT DATA will provide end-to-end support, from assessments of a customer’s cryptographic posture and a roadmap for migration, through implementation and ongoing managed services.

“The stakes could not be higher. Enterprises that fail to prepare for the post-quantum era risk data breaches, operational disruptions, regulatory penalties and a fundamental erosion of customer trust.” Said Cathy Huang, senior research director, Worldwide Security Services, IDC. “Organizations must begin now with cryptographic discovery, risk assessments and migration roadmaps. Alongside technology solutions that secure enterprises from future quantum-aided attacks.”

“Enterprises, especially in highly regulated industries, face mounting pressure to safeguard sensitive data while navigating the opportunities and risks of the rapidly evolving AI landscape,”noted Sheetal Mehta, Head of Cybersecurity, NTT DATA, Inc. “Our partnership with Fortanix brings together complementary strengths to mitigate risks and prepare for the post-quantum era with crypto-agility.”

“AI, cloud, regulations and post-quantum cryptography are reshaping how data must be secured,” said Anand Kashyap, CEO and co-founder, Fortanix. “Together with NTT DATA, we’re enabling enterprises to proactively manage cryptographic risks with industry-leading Confidential Computing.”

Initial use cases
  • Multicloud key management: Unified encryption-key control across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and on-premises.
  • Post-quantum readiness: Discovery of vulnerable cryptography, migration planning and continuity during transition to quantum-safe standards.
  • Data sovereignty [Public sector]: Geofencing and secure key storage aligned to residency rules.
  • Secure AI & ML: Privacy-preserving processing in Confidential Computing enclaves across the AI lifecycle.
  • HSM as-a-Service: Centralized key and digital-asset management without physical hardware.
  • Data tokenization & FPE: Protecting sensitive fields while keeping data usable for regulated workloads.

The companies will initially target highly regulated sectors worldwide, including financial services, healthcare, government and telecommunications.
