TECNO has partnered with UNICEF in Nigeria to support the Nigeria Learning Passport, a digital learning platform. Many children worldwide remain out of school or do not learn effectively, a significant issue in Nigeria. To address this, the Federal Ministry of Education and UNICEF launched the Nigeria Learning Passport in 2022. This initiative is part of UNICEF’s global Learning Passport strategy, established in 2018.
The platform offers curriculum-aligned materials in local languages through online and offline delivery, ensuring children can access educational resources anytime, anywhere. It provides a wide range of educational content and professional training for educators. The programme has expanded to 19 states, with around 888,000 registered users, ranking second among participating countries.

TECNO supports the programme’s expansion, content development, and educator training. UNICEF plans to extend the platform to include offline content for 50,000 children in remote and low-income areas in 2024, aiming to reduce the education gap further.
Cristian Munduate, UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria, highlighted the partnership’s role in enhancing the reach and impact of the Nigeria Learning Passport. Jack Guo, General Manager of TECNO, emphasized the importance of investing in education to break the cycle of poverty and foster social and economic development.
By the end of 2023, the Learning Passport had reached 38 countries with 6.02 million registered users and over 13,000 courses. It was recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Projects by The Project Management Institute in 2020 and one of TIME’s best 100 inventions in 2021.
