Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame hosted Professor Kingsley Moghalu, President of the African School of Governance – ASG, at Urugwiro Village in Kigali. This meeting highlighted their shared commitment to reshaping governance and leadership across Africa. Kigali will serve as the host city for this visionary institution.

Launched in October 2024. The African School of Governance aims to develop a new generation of African leaders equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills. With graduate programs in policy, governance, leadership, and management, ASG is positioned to drive impactful change across the continent.

President Kagame emphasized the critical role of ASG. Stating that it addresses a “missing link” in Africa’s development. A mindset shift, confidence in African identity, and the ability to translate visionary ideas into actionable results. ASG seeks to foster leaders capable of leveraging governance to create tangible, sustainable progress.

Integrating Technology for Africa’s Future

ASG places technology at the heart of its approach. It will integrate digital tools and artificial intelligence into its teaching, research, and governance models. From virtual classrooms connecting students across Africa to AI-driven insights for policy-making. The school aims to equip leaders with tech-enabled solutions for 21st-century challenges.

Progress and Momentum

Professor Moghalu briefed President Kagame on key developments:

Accreditation and Launch: ASG’s accreditation process is nearing completion, with a grand launch set for January 2025.

Pan-African Recruitment. Students from all African nations will join the inaugural cohort of the Master of Public Administration program in September 2025.

Resource Mobilization: Ongoing efforts ensure the institution’s sustainability and ability to deliver on its ambitious vision.

    Professor Moghalu praised President Kagame for his visionary leadership and support, emphasizing that ASG is ready to play a pivotal role in addressing Africa’s leadership and governance challenges while advancing sustainable development.
