Bolt has launched a new membership that gives regular riders and food customers a little something back. The Bolt Plus subscription starts at KES 280 a month, and new members get their first month free. Kenyans who take rides or order meals often can earn cashback and skip some delivery fees. Bolt says the idea is to reward loyal customers in ways they can see and feel.

What The Bolt Plus Subscription Include
Members get cashback of up to 10 percent on rides, credited to their Bolt Balance for future trips. Eligible restaurants and shops marked with a plus sign in the app deliver free, saving up to KES 200 an order. Members also get matched with drivers faster, even when many people are booking at once. Each month, they can cancel three rides without penalty, and the Bolt Plus subscription also moves their food orders up the queue.
Why Paid Perks Feel Familiar Now
Kenyans already pay for many digital services, which makes a paid membership easier to understand. A Media Council of Kenya study found that 45.8 percent of respondents pay to access Kenyan digital content. Communications Authority figures also show 84.1 million active mobile subscriptions in the third quarter of FY2025/26. The Bolt Plus subscription applies that familiar habit to everyday trips, meals, groceries and errands.
Price matters, so Bolt has set a gentle entry point for people who want to try the service first. Launch customers can pay an introductory rate of KES 119 a month for the first six months. Ivy Njeri Maingi, Bolt Food General Manager for Kenya, said, “Bolt Plus is about rewarding loyalty in a way customers can actually feel.” The subscription is now available in the Bolt and Bolt Food apps across Kenya.
