Roam Among FT’s Fastest-Growing African Firms

Electric-mobility manufacturer Roam has been ranked 35th on the 2025 Financial Times – FT Statista. This is a list of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies, the highest position among the 11 Kenyan businesses featured.

The annual survey evaluated more than 130 firms across the continent. It measures compound annual growth rate [CAGR] and absolute revenue growth from 2020 to 2023. Roam reported an 86.4 % CAGR and 547.8 % revenue increase over the three-year period.

Recent milestones
  • Roam Hubs – battery-swap and charging stations now operating in Nairobi, Kiambu and Machakos counties
  • Ride-hailing integrations – collaborations with Uber and Bolt to widen access to electric two-wheelers for boda-boda riders
  • Technology partnership – joint engineering projects with Italy’s Energica to accelerate local EV development
  • Long-distance demonstration – completion of a 6,000 km Nairobi-to-Stellenbosch electric journey in 2024, showcasing vehicle durability and charging-network readiness

These initiatives support Roam’s 2025 expansion plan. It aims to scale production capacity and open additional hub locations in East and Southern Africa.
