IA-Powered Tools Slash Investigation Times

Genetec Inc., a global provider of enterprise physical security software, has introduced new intelligent automation – IA powered investigation tools in its Security Center SaaS platform, aiming to help security operators locate evidence, interpret events, and resolve incidents in a fraction of the usual time.

In most security operations today, investigations still demand hours of manual video review and system switching. Genetec’s new features centralize these processes into a unified interface. It allows teams to search for people, vehicles, or objects across live and recorded footage. They can search using natural language or advanced filters. The platform automatically enriches results with contextual data. It shows related activity nearby, what occurred before and after an incident, or identifying people of similar appearance.

This IA powered approach reduces the operational friction typically associated with large-scale surveillance systems. Where operators must navigate hundreds of camera feeds or separate tools to piece together timelines. Security Center SaaS’s open architecture also allows integration with a wide range of camera models. It gives users flexibility while leveraging the platform’s metadata-driven search for faster, more accurate insights.

Jonathan Doyon, Senior Product Group Director at Genetec, said the update reflects growing demands for faster, smarter analysis following critical incidents. “Our new intelligent search gives investigation teams a faster, more intuitive way to find relevant evidence. They are able to piece together timelines, and securely share results,” he noted. “This is the kind of innovation security teams have been asking for, and this is only the beginning.”

Among the key new capabilities are context-aware intelligent search, which adapts to the operator’s focus and launches relevant workflows automatically. Nearby activity mapping to reconstruct sequences of events; precise entry and exit detection; and similarity search to find individuals with comparable visual profiles across multiple sites and camera systems.

Available to all Security Center SaaS users from 29th September. The new functionality signals a shift toward automation-driven investigations that emphasize speed, accuracy, and privacy. For industry experts, it highlights a broader trend: security software is evolving beyond video management to become decision-support infrastructure — where artificial intelligence quietly enhances human judgment without replacing
