Bolt, Kenya’s has launched Family Profile. This is a new feature that allows users to manage and pay for rides for up to nine other people all from one Bolt account. Whether it’s getting your kids to school, helping older parents get around, or supporting a friend in need, Bolt’s Family Profile puts convenience, safety, and control into your hands.

Every day, thousands of Kenyans book rides for someone else often requiring phone calls, manual coordination, and shared trip links. In fact, Bolt data shows that 2–6% of rides are ordered on behalf of another person. Family Profile eliminates the hassle with an easy, built-in solution.
With this new feature, you can:
- Add up to 9 family members or trusted individuals under one profile.
- Set spending limits for each person to manage your monthly costs.
- Receive real-time trip notifications for added peace of mind.
- Track rides live and stay informed about your loved ones’ journeys.
Ride Access for Everyone Even Without a Smartphone
Family Profile is especially useful for:
- Parents and guardians managing transportation for children or dependents.
- Caregivers of older relatives who may not use smartphones or ride-hailing apps.
- Anyone supporting someone who needs reliable, app-free transport.
Once added, members can request rides through their own Bolt app or have the profile owner manage it for them.
Built-In Safety and Control
With Family Profile, you stay in control:
- Monitor who’s taking rides and where they’re going
- Get alerts when trips start and finish
- Instantly view a ride’s live location or contact the driver if needed
All added members must still have their own Bolt accounts and meet the minimum age requirement of 18, in line with Bolt’s safety and legal policies. The feature does not support rides for unaccompanied minors.
The launch of Family Profile is part of Bolt’s broader mission to deliver safe, high-quality, and user-friendly ride-hailing for all. It complements existing features such as:
