Samsung has opened East African pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, bringing its foldables to Kenya at prices starting from KES 159,200.
The launch puts as much focus on software and privacy as it does on folding screens. All three phones run One UI 9, which introduces an AI Assistant Activity Dashboard showing automated actions carried out in the background. Users can review those actions and change an assistant’s access from one place.
One UI 9 Privacy Gives Users More Control
Samsung says Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection creates separate, encrypted spaces for apps processing personal information. It works alongside Knox Vault, which protects security keys and authentication details. Real-time Privacy Alerts can also warn users when an app attempts to access a restricted permission.
“We designed One UI 9 specifically for tech enthusiasts and power users who demand high-performance capabilities without sacrificing system transparency or control,” said Manish Jangra, head of Samsung East Africa’s Mobile Experience Division.
The update also targets people moving from an iPhone. Smart Switch supports wireless transfers through a QR code and can move passkeys, saved credentials, call history, accessibility settings and eSIM profiles. Quick Share adds two-way file transfers between supported Galaxy and Apple devices.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Kenya Prices and Options
In Kenya, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at KES 271,000, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 begins at KES 243,900. The smaller Galaxy Z Flip8 starts at KES 159,200. Top configurations reach KES 349,300, keeping the new models firmly in the premium market.
Buyers also receive six months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage. Colour choices vary by model and include Graphite, Cream, Lavender, Pink and online-only shades. Pre-orders are now open across all listed configurations.
