Payments company Yellow Card has strengthened its Latin America presence by buying a Brazilian firm called GoMoney. Yellow Card said it completed the acquisition in October, giving it direct operations in Brazil. GoMoney is a virtual asset service provider founded in 2018 and based in São Paulo. The Yellow Card Brazil expansion builds on the company’s wider plan to grow its global network of financial services.

What the Yellow Card Brazil Deal Offers
Yellow Card clients can now collect and pay out money in Brazilian reais, including through Pix, Brazil’s instant payment system. They can also settle in stablecoins, with the service delivered by a locally established provider. These tools connect with the treasury and liquidity services Yellow Card already offers in other markets. The Yellow Card Brazil service is aimed at businesses that need to move money across borders more smoothly.
Under the Yellow Card Brazil plan, GoMoney will keep its founders as leaders and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. Maurício Pires, a founder and chief executive of GoMoney, said the team has spent eight years using stablecoins for cross-border payments, “similar to what Yellow Card has been doing in Africa and globally over the same period.” Pires added that the team is excited to join Yellow Card and expand across Brazil and Latin America. GoMoney still operates under Brazil’s transitional regime, and its application to the central bank for full authorisation awaits review.
Why Brazil Matters for Stablecoins
Chainalysis reports that Brazil recorded $252.5 billion in cryptocurrency activity between July 2025 and June 2026, making it Latin America’s largest crypto market. The report also found stablecoin activity in Brazil rose 495% across its 2024–2026 comparison period, driven partly by cross-border transfers and liquidity management. Chris Maurice, Co-Founder and CEO of Yellow Card, said, “Building global financial infrastructure requires compliance with local frameworks, local payment rails, and local expertise and relationships to operate effectively.” That local-first view shapes the Yellow Card Brazil move and fits how the company wants to grow.
The deal comes after Yellow Card’s August 2026 financing of $40 million, which included investors such as Standard Chartered Bank and Sony. The company has also won regulatory approvals and registrations in Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe. Next, Yellow Card plans to deepen its presence in key markets, expand its products and strengthen partnerships.
